“It’s all right to tell a man to lift himself by his own bootstraps, but it is cruel jest to say to a bootless man that he ought to lift himself by his own bootstraps.” ― Martin Luther King Jr. The Alpha Kappa Alpha -Epsilon Kappa Omega Chapter continues to selflessly serve our community, and in doing so, continues to strengthen it. On Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, we were blessed with delicious food from them, a visit from Senator Lena Taylor, and inspirational words from Pastor West. Our sincerest thank you to all.

Special thanks to our board members, volunteers, and the Philo affiliates of Sigma Gamma Rho for making this day so special for the Members!
In the news again! That is because there are very few other places with emergency warming rooms open this year. With deadly cold on its way, it's important everyone knows we are open, but we reach our max capacity quickly, so make sure you arrive at 7 pm to get a spot.

Our emergency warming shelter is open at 32 degrees instead of 20 degrees, meaning we will be open most nights for anyone who finds themselves suddenly without shelter or on a waiting list. No one should freeze due to lack of shelter.
Alpha Kappa Alpha, the Epsilon Kappa Omega chapter, has been an ally of the homeless, our community, and Repairers of the Breach for over twenty years. In commemoration, they have generously donated a beautiful bench to our Members, along with over 200 cases of needed water. From serving meals to serving on the board, we sincerely thank AKA for their years of support. They are truly Repairers of the Breach! We are blessed to have so many Repairers help the homeless out of poverty. Such Repairers are the members of APRI MKE chapter, who provided bag lunches on 9-17-22. Thank you for your generosity!
Dr. Sandra Underwood of UWM wanted to know about services provided before, during, and after the pandemic and how COVID-19 has impacted the community. Repairers of the Breach is thankful to be part of her study.
As people's temporary winter shelters close, we remain open to serve year-round. It is thanks to you, the Repairers, who make this happen. Today let's honor Puppy World, a pet store that raised over $4,000 to ensure we can continue serving! Thank you to the 8th graders and their families at St. Mary's, as well as That's Amore, for serving delicious chili, fruit, salad, bread, and dessert to our Members! We look forward to your return in April and May. |
