It's incredibly difficult to move yourself forward during the holidays. You are worrying about staying warm and eating enough. The days are short, and the darkness is long. On top of that, even if you are endeavoring to dig yourself out of poverty, even if you are working so hard, the holidays can break your spirit a little. It can remind you of what you don't have, or what you've lost. The colorful packages and twinkling trees belie the stark difference between the haves and have-nots. Even innocent questions like, "do you have plans this holiday?" can feel like a punch to the gut, as you know, "I'm hoping to eat a meal," would either cause unease or would cause suspicion. That is why your support during the holidays is so incredibly important, and this year, you Repairers really madethis holiday a vibrant and magical day. Nobody who visited ROTB this Christmas had to worry if they could eat or be warm. Everyone who visited ROTB this Christmas received their very own gift. Special thanks to Gail Bennett, Minister Mattie Shannon, Donna Owens from Delectables (who catered), Tom and his wife, all our Board Members, Tommy, Pastor West, Danzel, Ms. Doris, Ms. Greta, Mr. Andrae, and Ms. Brenda for making this day so special. You are all truly Repairers of the Breach. |
